PERSEVERANCE
By Nic Bentley

When you try something new to succeed you need perseverance. When exercising you need to push even that little bit harder. That's perseverance.

In March 2013 l was in a severe car accident which left me hospitalised for three months.
As a result l was unable to walk due to multiple breaks in my legs.

After an initial stay in hospital l was transferred to a rehabilitation ward to add my recovery. This was a challenging time and l was required to persevere with the daily routine of exercise. Progress was slow and often disheartening. That's when l learned the meaning of perseverance.

After leaving the rehabilitation hospital l was still not able to walk and received no further assistance from a trained physiotherapist. l was left to persevere with the exercises on my own and to develop my own routine. This consisted of exercises on front and back to strengthen my legs while removing the strain on my legs from the exercise

Six months after the exercise l was able to walk normally on both legs. The doctors said my recovery was exceptional; my recovery was expected to take eighteen months.

The success was due to my perseverance - it's what it takes.
